REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTIONS RUN BY
CARMELODAYA CMC EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY, WARDHA M.S. 442001
Carmelodaya CMC Educational Society, Sawangi Meghe, Wardha is formed and
managed by the Roman Catholic Religious minority in order to impart
education to all persons irrespective of caste, race, community or creed
and also to care, protect and look after the welfare of the weaker
sections of the society with particular regard to the physically
handicapped and Mentally Retarded children.
Under this society we have the following institutions:

1. Carmel School for the Mentally Retarded Children ,
Wardha
Aiming at the moulding of the unfortunate children to be the useful
citizens of our country, Carmel School has been providing special
education to the mentally Retarded children through the efforts of our
well trained staff, who are well qualified in special education.
We are providing behaviour modification of the mentally Retarded
children through the services of physiotherapy, music therapy, yoga
therapy and special education techniques by a team of interdisciplinary
teachers.
We train our students in daily living skills, who are unable to do their
daily chores, like eating, dressing, grooming, and toileting etc. The
main purpose of this training programme is to infuse confidence in them,
to make them feel that, they are quite efficient and can attend to their
daily needs with more confidence than ever as the ordinary children of
their age group and move in the society with some satisfaction facing
challenges
we train them and give chances to develop their talents in creative arts
with waste materials. We are trying to make them self-sufficient so that
they too may feel a sense of belongingness in the society in which they
live.






Academic Year 2011-2012:
Sports day






In an attempt to increase the overall physical fitness of mentally
retarded children, we have conducted sports day. The physical activity
along with support, rewards, and interaction seems to be beneficial to
these children.
Yoga Sessions


Mental retardation can be improved to a great extent with the help of
regular yogic practices. The integrated approach of yoga is the right
way to go ahead. Hence we have included physical postures, breathing
practices, and Postures to improve flexibility of the body.
Play and Recreation


Activities like, picnics and outdoor games, gardening which are
cautiously guided and modified by experienced staff are carried out as
routine. They facilitate relevant social and play behaviors and
expression of emotions in socially acceptable means.
Cultural programmes


The students participated in the painting and Fancy Dress competitions
conducted by the lions Club and the winners & participants had been
awarded attractive prizes, sweets and teaching Aids.
Medical check ups

Medical check ups had been done for our children with the help of
National Rural Medical care for the school children
Exhibition




We arranged an Exhibition in our school with the wonderful things
prepared by our students with cheap materials. It was very grand and the
neighbouring staff &students of English Medium Schools visited and
purchased very many items. It was a real encouragement and a golden
opportunity for our students to unfold their hidden talents and have a
fulfillment. No doubt we can really call them the differently abed
children of God.

Education is holistic than just being an information centre of teaching
and learning. Its aim is to promote the all round development of
students through sound intellectual, physical and moral education in an
environment of social and spiritual out look. It not only prepares the
students academically but also prepares them to meet the challenges of
life with a challenge and thus instill a praise worthy character.
Apart from the school for the mentally Retarded children, Carmelodaya
CMC Education Society has 4 normal English Medium schools. Presently 2
of those schools have changed from state pattern to CBSE pattern.

REPORT OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE SCHOOL 2011-2012
“ Arise awake, stop not until the goal is reached we live only once ,
but if we do it well, once is enough. Each new academic year in a new
beginning to learn more about ourselves, to care more about others to
accomplish more than we thought we could, and to be more than we were
before .The whole of art of teaching is only the art of awakening the
natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it
afterwards.”
Academics:

The
perseverance and meticulous endeavors of our diligent students were
brought to lime light through the academic achievements of our toppers
of various streams. More than 20 competitive exams like MTS,NTS,
Olympiads, Aptitude tests, Scholarship examinations etc. give an
opportunity to sharpen the brilliance of students. Many of our students
have excelled and achieved a place in the state ranking and benefited
with Scholarships. 6th and 9th standard students have won medals in Homi
Babha Exams.
Master Atharva Korde of Carmel Convent School, Belwali scored 100% and
brought laurels to the school
Co-Curricular Activities:
The various
competitions held in the year 2011-2012 were: Handwriting, Story Telling
,Solo song ,Elocution, News Reading, Classical Dance, Rangoli making,
painting ,Best Out Of Waste, Fancy dress, Flower arrangement. The
various sports activities were conducted like track events as running
race, potato race, three-legged race, relay, shot put, javeline throw,
discus throw, etc,. Various indoor games like table tennis, chess were
also conducted. The main aim of scout and guide is to develop students
physical, intellectual, social and spiritual abilities through
challenging recreations. Here, activities like camping, trekking, tent
making etc are practiced.
Our school has formed a five member association named “Glow Friends”
consisting of two sisters and 3 teachers to boost the moral and
spiritual growth of our students. The students who are facing different
types of problems often meet them and get roper guidance.
Orientations and seminars :


Consistently striving to synthesize changes, orientation programme was
conducted for the teaching faculty, students and parents. To enrich the
teaching faculty and update them with the latest teaching techniques
seminars were conducted. To adapt to this competitive world is really a
challenge hence to reduce the stress of exams and cope up with the life
situation counselling sessions were arranged for students. The eminent
psychologists visits our school and arrange classes for students and
their parents.
Cultural Activities :


To inculcate various higher values of life various cultural activities
are conducted such as celebrating National festivals, Teachers’ Day,
Christmas Celebration, and Children’s Day. Speeches given on important
occasion and personalities give encouragement to lead a moral life.
Sports and Games:

Along
with classroom learning children acquire a lot of life’s lessons from
the play ground. Healthy competitions enable them to develop a good
spirit of self discipline and co-operation. It enables them to face the
challenges of life and accept both success and failure in the same
spirit. They learn the strength of team work and importance of
co-ordination from these sports activities. A fit and fine body and a
sound mind enables them to win many a challenges.
Social Service:
Very few have fully realized the wealth of
sympathy, kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. Here we
unlock the treasure hidden in every child’s mind. Carmel actively
encourages and inculcates in the minds of students, the spirit of
service to mankind and enhance the love for downtrodden and under
privileged strata of society by helping them in various ways.
Report of Activities for the year
2012- 2013.
“ The goal of Education is not merely to produce good individuals, but
to turn out individual who understand their social responsibilities as
integral elements of the society in which they live”. It was the
beginning of monsoons and heralding of the new school year! As the
farmers tilling the fields and getting ready to sow , in the school the
mind and hearts of the students are prepared to sow the seeds of the
knowledge, learning and cultivate the feelings of fellowship and
togetherness .Seeking the innumerable blessing of God the new school
year2012-2013 began.
Special Olympics Bharat Maharashtra 2012 for the mentally
retarded children of Carmel School Wardha
We have spared our special Teacher Mr. Narendra Kamble for the Master
Course the Scheme of Sports and Games for persons with Disabilities held
at the Lakshmibai National University of physical Education, Gwalior
from 2nd July to 7th , 2012 and co-operation of the games for the
Mentally Challenged children.
In wardha District first time special Olympics training programme for
the teachers 6th Jan . 13 to 8th Jan 13 conducted by this team under the
guidance of Mr. Narendra kamble. Our Teachers participated in this
seminar and continuing Rehabilitation Educational Programme and District
level special Olympics for the Handicapped children conducted in Wardha
Dist. Our children bagged many prizes from this competitions.
World Disabled Week Celebration:
In connection with world Disabled Day 2012 , we have arranged one week
programmes from 3-12-12 to 8-12-12 with varieties of competitions and
sports and games. Also our children participated the District level
sports and cultural competitions and bagged many prizes.
Educational Visits:
Social Work colleges, Nursing and Medical College students of Wardha and
Sewagram visits our school for the information of their educational
studies and intervene with the staff and students. Children are very
happy when they talk to them and show their abilities by showing the
materials they make.
Celebrations:

We celebrated the Independence day, Republic day, Carmel Day, Diwali
Christmas as well as Birthday of our school children in our school.
Orientations and seminars :
A good leader takes a little more than his share of blame , and a little
less than his share of credit . A leader has to be firm. No one can be a
leader if she is does not risk unpopularity for his views.
To enrich the teaching faculty and update them with the latest teaching
techniques aseminars and English coaching classes were conducted.In
order to equip the teachers with current knowledge, our teachers were
sent to attend the training program which was conducted by the Education
Department.
A seminar was conducted for the parents on ‘Family Ethics’ on 7th
October. To adapt to this competitive world is really a challenge hence
to reduce the stress of exams and cope up with the life situation
counselling sessions were arranged for students. The eminent
personalities visited our school and arrange classes for students on
career guidance and sex education.A class on “Good parenting’ was given
to the parents and made them understand how to become good parents. A
class was also arranged for the students on “value and leadership” .
Consistently striving to synthesize changes, orientation programmes are

students and their parents famous psychologist by Dr. Fabian Almeida.
Seminars are conducted for the bus drivers and owners.




Carmel School staff and students participated in the rally conducted by
the Indian medical Association of Pen against sex selection and abortion
of female fetuses, female infanticide thus resulting the fast
declination of female to male sex ratio. Clad in white with placard in
hand sloagan of MulgamulgiEkSaman echoed in the municipal of Pen.It
really raised the eyebrows of the public of Pen and could conscientise
people about the imbalance of girls and boys ratio.


We also presented a seminar on Pollution Free Environment in Rotary Pen
festival. Paper bags made by our students were also distributed at no
cost .Skit on Global warming was very effective and helpful
Report of Activities for the year 2013- 2014
Medical &Dental check ups:
On 29-07-13 &27-8-2013 we have arranged the Medical and Dental checkups
to the school children with the help of National Rural Health programme
and with the co-ordination of Sharad Pawar Dental college,
Sawangi-Meghe, Wardha for the children. The Medicine to the needy was
given.
With Remand Home children Christmas Celebration:
On 04-01-2014 we have arranged a programme for the less privileged
children od remand Home. We have arranged some competitions for them and
served Lunch for them. We have distributed the gifts to all children.
They were so happy to spend the hours with us.
Lion &Lioness club Week Celebration with the M.R.Children.
On 8-10-13 the Lions and Lioness dignitaries spent the day with our
school children. They conducted the sports competition for our children
and distributed the prizes for the winners. They also provided Tiffin
bag to all the children. The children enjoyed well on that day.
Parent Meet
We have conducted one day seminar for the parents of our school children
on 29-03-2014. The resource person was Mr. Akhil Vasudev Gude the
clinical psychologist. The parents clarified many doubts about their
children during the seminar with the resource person. After the seminar
we have distributed prizes for the winners of different competitions.
The resource person also diagnosed I.Q of some of the students with
parents.. The snacks were distributed to all
Educational visits from different work colleges and medical and Nursing
colleges of Wardha and Sewagram visited our school for their curriculum
syllabus and given the awareness about our school and students. They
visited all the class rooms and vocational training centre and
encouraged our children for their work.
School Celebrations:
We have celebrated Diwali and Christmas as well as the national and
school celebrations with enthusiasm and distributed sweets, snacks to
the staff and students.

Report of Activities for the year
2014- 2015.
Our commitment has been to ensure the overall holistic development of
our students in addition to our efforts to impart the best education. We
also provide equal importance to extra curricular activities like
sports, physical education, personality development etc.
Staff training :

Staying update is essential need of teaching profession. By attending
workshops and various training programmes our teachers strive to stay
updated.
Scholastic Program :
We follow the CCE system devised by the state Board. This evaluation is
based on a scholastic performance leading to the all round development
of the child. Under this scheme, the scholastic part is evaluated by the
formative and summative assessment of their performance in core
subjects. Remedial coaching is undertaken for the students on need
basis.
The kids of Kinder Garden enjoy the play way fun filled activity based
learning. Assessments are also carried out periodically to evaluate
their learning skills.
Competitions :



We expose our students to competitions to help them build confidence.
Some of the Internal Competitions included Painting competition , Quiz
competition , Essay writing competition , Debates , Rangoli, Flower
arrangement, Solo Song competition, Classical dance competition, Best
Out of waste , Story Telling, Poetry recitation etc.
We need You Dear Grandparents………..
To show love towards grandparents young Carmelite presented their cute
performance by inviting their grandparents. It really misted many eyes
of grandparents as they were welcomed and honored with mementos and
gifts. The Vicar General of Kalyan Diocese Rev. Jacob Porathur graced
the gathering.
Social Service :
Carmelites never hesitate to extend a helping hand to comfort the poor,
sick and needy. They visit orphanage and less privileged people and help
them by donating cash and needy things.
Our students collected good amount to help the orphanages, cancer
patients ,disabled people and the less fortunate people in the society.
The school supported ‘Care India Association’ by raising a fund of Rs.
3,46,000/- for the cancer patients. A considerable amount of Rs.75,000/-
was also given to the National Association Of Disabled Enterprises, for
the working for the cause welfare of the Handicapped.
Courses and Seminar.


One day Seminar on CCE was conducted for the staff by Mrs.Purvi Roy and
Miss.Satakshi Shreya from Mumbai.
Some of our teachers were sent to Hydrabad and Nagpur for CBSE training
programme,thus updating their knowledge in their teaching subjects.
On February a seminar was arranged for the parents to make them
understand about different stages of the growth of the children. The
resource person was Mrs.ManishaMahatme from St.Joseph college Nagpur. It
was given in two batches.
A self-defense course was arranged for all High School girls with the
help of lady police of Pen. They were trained to defend themselves in
challenging situation and were found worthwhile as there were theory as
well as practical with some basic Karate. This was very encouraging and
helpful for girls in their future.

Tata Cancer Institute organized an awareness programme on cancer for all
our students. Our students collected Rs.126000 for their medical aid
also helped by giving Rs.25000 to one our parents for his operation.
This shoes love and care towards our society.
